A DVI Extender is used to transmit DVI signals for long distances. It is able to output crystal clear images of 1920*1200 resolutions. The DVI extender works using plug and play functionality. It is made up of a remote receiver and transmitter. The local transmitter is connected to the source while the receiver output via the device monitor.

The Cat5, Cat5e, and Cat6 connecting cables are used for linking the different devices. There is no need for big cables while the distance allows the DVI device to be placed next to the source. In some cases fiber optic cable can be used as a connector. One of the unique features of the DVI extender is a magnetic pad that allows for easy installation. The DVI device allows the user to extend digital video signals. Some of the DVI extender devices have audio jacks that can be connected to computers.
